The pair
How a set works, and who gets to wear it.
Why do the shirts only come in pairs?
Because one shirt on its own is just a shirt. Two of the same are a story — and it tells itself outdoors, without anyone having to explain anything.
So the set is the smallest unit we sell: one big shirt, one small one, same fabric, same print.
What comes in a set?
Two shirts. One in a dad size (XS–XXL), one in a kid size (92–152, XXS–XXL above that). You pick both sizes yourself, independently of each other.
A set costs €59.
There are more than two of us. Does that work?
Yes. On the set page, hit “+ Add another kid” and pick another kid size — as often as you need.
Each additional kid is €24 instead of €29.50. The sibling discount comes off automatically in the cart, no code needed.
Can I buy a single shirt?
No, singles aren’t a thing here — that’s rather the point.
If a shirt gives up or your kid has outgrown theirs, write to hello@dasmerch.com and we’ll see what we can do.
Does it have to be dad?
No. Mum, grandma, grandpa, godmother, big sister — the big shirt has no opinion on this.
We call the sizes dad and kid because we had to start somewhere. Who wears them is up to you.
Sizes & fit
The dad cut is roomy, the kid cut is regular. The rest is in the table.
How does the dad shirt fit?
Oversized. Straight cut, deliberately roomy, broad through the shoulder, loose drape — it runs a size wider than a standard tee.
If you like it close to the body, take one size down from your usual.
Which size does my kid need?
The number is body height in centimetres: 116 fits a child around 116 cm tall — roughly 5 to 6 years old.
One measurement against the wall beats any age chart. The kid shirt is a regular cut, not oversized.
I’m between two sizes.
For the kid, size up: children grow, and a shirt that still fits next summer is the better shirt.
For dad, size down, because the cut is roomy anyway. Big and small, in opposite directions.
Will it shrink in the wash?
Barely. The fabric is shrink-tested before cutting — 90 minutes at 60 °C — and the pattern is calculated from the result.
Wash at 30 °C and the size stays the size.

| 104 | 3–4 y | 32 cm | 44 cm |
| 116 | 5–6 y | 34 cm | 48 cm |

| S | – | – | – |
| M | – | – | – |
| L | – | – | – |
| XL | – | – | – |
| XXL | – | – | – |
The kid shirt is a regular cut — go by height.
Dad
| Size | Chest width | Length |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 52 cm | 68 cm |
| S | 55 cm | 70 cm |
| M | 58 cm | 72 cm |
| L | 61 cm | 74 cm |
| XL | 64 cm | 76 cm |
| XXL | 67 cm | 78 cm |
The dad shirt is oversized — it runs a size wider. Want it closer to the body? Size down.
Garment measurements, laid flat, in cm. Your chest circumference divided by two plus about 5 cm gives the right chest width.
Fabric, print & origin
What the shirt is made of, where it comes from, how the print survives.
What are the shirts made of?
100% organic cotton, GOTS-certified. Single jersey at 180 g/m² — mid-weight, smooth, with body. Not a see-through cheap tee.
Thermoregulating, kind to skin, absorbent. And at the end of its life the fabric can be recycled back into fabric.
What does GOTS mean?
Global Organic Textile Standard. It sets environmental requirements across the entire textile production chain, plus social criteria — from the field through the spinning mill to the sewing room.
Not a badge we invented, but an audited standard with independent certification.
Why organic cotton and not the cheap kind?
Figures from Das Merch, our own production (dasmerch.com/nachhaltigkeit): organic cotton needs 88% less water and 62% less energy than conventional. 80% of it grows on rain alone, with no irrigation.
No toxic chemicals in the process — what sits on your kid’s skin is the same fabric that went through production.
Where are the shirts made?
Apfel & Stamm is a brand by Das Merch from Linz, Austria. Sewing and printing happen in our own production in Fafe, Portugal.
Das Merch keeps its own office there, its own tailoring workshop, and a network of around 15 partner workshops in the region, weaving mill included. Every piece is checked from both sides before it goes in the box.
How is the motif printed — and does it last?
Screen or digital print, small on the chest, in our own production in Portugal.
It lasts if you let it: 30 °C inside out, no tumble dryer, and never run the iron over the print. The cotton could take more — the print couldn’t.
Why white and black?
Because the motif is the colour. The shirt is the stage, not the act: white for the bright motifs, black where the motif asks for it — each set names its colour.
How do I wash the set?
30 °C, inside out, no tumble dryer, no dry cleaning. Ironing is fine, just never over the print.
And wash it less often. A shirt hung by an open window overnight is fresh again by morning. Small marks usually come out by hand with soap and water.
Shipping & delivery
From our production in Portugal, packed in paper, with you in 5–8 business days.
How long does it take?
Delivery usually takes 5–8 business days from the contract being concluded, or from payment arriving if you pay in advance.
The shirts come straight from our production in Portugal. How fast exactly depends on the carrier.
Where do you ship to?
To Austria and Germany. We ship from our production in Portugal; more countries follow once we can serve them properly.
Details are on Shipping & delivery.
What does shipping cost?
Austria €5.00, Germany €7.00. Shipping is free from €79 (AT) or €99 (DE).
The exact amount is shown during checkout, before you complete it. No surprises after the click.
How will I know it’s on the way?
You’ll get a shipping confirmation by email as soon as the order leaves the warehouse — with a tracking number where the carrier issues one.
How is it packed?
Paper and cardboard. No plastic — not as a mailer, not as filler.
Can one order arrive in two parcels?
Yes, partial deliveries are permitted where that’s reasonable for you. They never cost you extra shipping.
Exchanges & returns
With kid sizes, guessing wrong is normal. No drama.
The size doesn’t fit. What now?
Write to hello@dasmerch.com with your order number and the size it should have been. Best to get in touch before you send anything back — it’s quicker that way.
How long do I have to return something?
Fourteen days from the day you took delivery of the goods — no reason required.
A clear statement by email or post is enough. The model form and the exact wording are in the right of withdrawal notice.
Who pays for the return?
With our returns label we deduct €5.00 from the refund. You can also send the shirt back yourself at your own cost. For a justified complaint we pay the return shipping.
We refund the purchase price plus the cost of the cheapest standard delivery no later than fourteen days after your withdrawal reaches us, using the same payment method you used.
What condition does it have to come back in?
Trying it on is explicitly fine — you have to be allowed to check what you bought. Worn, washed or otherwise put through its paces, less so.
You only owe us for a loss in value if it came from handling that wasn’t necessary to inspect the goods.
The shirt has a defect.
Then it isn’t a return, it’s a defect. Write to hello@dasmerch.com, ideally with a photo where the problem is visible.
Statutory warranty applies: two years from delivery, with a claim to repair or replacement.
Can I still change or cancel my order?
As long as the parcel hasn’t gone out, usually yes. The only thing that matters is getting in touch quickly: hello@dasmerch.com.
Orders & payment
Prices, payment methods, and why there’s rarely a sale.
How can I pay?
With the payment methods offered to you during checkout, processed through the Shopify platform’s payment provider.
All prices are in euros and include statutory VAT.
I didn’t get an order confirmation.
Check your spam folder first — that’s where it usually is. If it isn’t there either, write to hello@dasmerch.com with your name and the order date and we’ll go find it.
Do you run sales?
Rarely. The price on day one is the price on the last day — if only so nobody has to wait around for a set to get cheaper.
The one standing discount is the sibling one: each additional kid €24 instead of €29.50, automatically in the cart.
