The first day of school produces a photo on the doorstep that you will still be looking at in twenty years. In that photo he is wearing something. It is the one decision that morning you actually control.

What the first day of school actually needs
Not much, and most of it can be done the night before. The list is short because the morning is not.
- Lay it out the night before
- Both shirts over the chair. Anything that has to be found in the morning becomes an argument in the morning.
- Wash it once first
- New shirts arrive with fold lines from the box. One wash at 30 degrees, dried flat, and they are gone.
- Two weeks of lead time
- Delivery takes 5–8 business days, the rest is buffer. If a size goes back there is still time for the other one.
- Size by height
- The number is height in centimetres, not age. A first-year is usually somewhere between 116 and 128.
